A seemingly monotonous and repetitive daily routine can actually be a great opportunity. It gives you the chance to perfect your skills without being whipsawed by duties that are always in flux. If the daily grind seems to be sapping your energy, pay attention to whether you are getting enough sleep — you may be sabotaging yourself with bad habits outside of work. The monotony of a daily routine can also be mitigated by spending part of your time learning new things and developing new areas of expertise. Finally, don’t procrastinate: do short tasks right away, and schedule longer tasks at a specific time.
