A medical study has found those whose diets include seafood a minimum of once per week show less mental declines as they age. The study was conducted over five years, and focused on the elderly who were already eighty years or older. Every participant’s memory was tested, and compared to their intake of omega-3 fatty acid rich seafood. Those who regularly ate seafood showed better semantic memory, which is their ability to retain and utilize general knowledge. The lead researcher indicated the right diet can protect against mental declines.
