Sometimes it might not be the genes that helps someone’s body age very well, but rather the bacteria in their body. A recent research study looked at over one thousand people, and discovered elderly who were deemed to be in excellent health despite their age had the same bacteria in their digestive tracts as people decades younger. The researchers concluded that encouraging a strong and diverse population of digestive bacteria is helpful for good aging. They suggest eating a varied diet to support the intestinal populations.
