A new study out of Australia shows that older adults that use swimming as a main source of exercise may have a lesser chance of dangerous falls. Unlike more traditional land exercise such as walking, swimming improved the balance and core strength of the older men involved in the study, were as walking would not. The results could also show that walking simply does not engage and strengthen enough muscles to prevent a dangerous fall. Further studies could show that wide varieties of less conventional exercise could also prevent fall issues.
