Poor health from lack of physical activity include rising incidence of cardiovascular diseases and “musculoskeletal” problems. Lack of exercise has been seen as an indicator for type 2 diabetes. The necessary diet or intensity of exercise to mitigate negative health signs has not been established yet. Aerobic high-intensity training is more effective in improving health. There are two studies. The first one will last 24 weeks. There will be two groups withing the first study, the control group and the other group that will play soccer twice a week for a hour. Men will be aged 35 to 60, and have type 2 diabetes. The second study have a group A and B. Group A will be 50-65 yr old inactive, post-menopause women with mild to moderately elevated blood pressure, who will also receive advise about diet and exercise. These women will receive “floorball” training 3 times a week for an hour. Group 2B will be inactive men 35-55 years old, with mild to moderately elevated blood pressure. They will participate in a soccer training group 3 times a week, for a hour. They will also receive advise about healthy diet and exercise, and regular blood pressure measuring. Group 2A and 2B study activities will both last for 24 weeks.
