Stroke survivors walk again after Stanford injects stem cells into brain

Stem cells are controversial but they help with many conditions. They come from fetuses usually which is why some are against them. The reason they work is they haven’t decided what to become yet. They are blank cells which will adapt depending on what they’re close to. One of the things these are helping with is stroke. Some people can’t walk or do other things after one of these but stem cells are changing that.

Key Takeaways:

  • Stem cells are being injected into the brains of stroke victims to heal the brain.
  • Even though the strokes occurred many months before treatment, the stem cell therapy is restoring massive abilities back to the patients.
  • Because of the progress stem cell therapy has made with strokes, doctors see possibilities with other diseases.

“Stroke survivors who believed they would be paralysed or need a wheelchair for the rest of their lives are walking and moving again following a ground-breaking stem cell treatment. 18 patients who agreed to allow doctors to drill a hole in their skull and inject stem cells into the damaged part of their brain have made a ‘remarkable’ recovery.”
