Staying active over 60

Professor Ian Philp advocates healthy aging and has provided facts and advice for the public. Studies have proven that exercise not only aids existing illnesses, but can prevent other illnesses from showing up later on in life. Aerobic workouts decrease the chance of heart attacks, lowers high blood pressure and slows damage caused by diabetes. Strengthening the leg bones can help with balance and prevent harmful falls. Professor Philps also expresses the importance of keeping the mind healthy as well. Keeping the body active will keep the mind active and will actually delay dementia. Also, working out can be a social event! The older we get the more likely we are to become socially isolated. Combining social and physical activity can create a strong healthy community.
