Over forty? This is why Jiu-Jitsu is good for you, too!

Jiu-Jitsu is a versatile sport that provides an excellent way for men advancing into their later athletic years to exercise and stay in shape. In terms of versatility, if this is a sport that a person had picked up in their youth, they can easily continue to train and improve as they surpass age 40. But it is also a sport that can be picked up and enjoyed for the first time by men over 40. In addition to the physical benefits of Jiu-Jitsu training, it also provides a way to exercise your brain. Jiu-Jitsu is a sport that relies more on technique over brute strength. Therefore, it provides ample mental challenges as a competitor must decide how best to deploy and execute their techniques. To beat younger, quicker opponents you must play the part of the crafty veteran. As we get older, a major concern in athletic participation is avoiding injury. Jiu-Jitsu compares very favorably to more “traditional” sports. Overall, it is a lot easier on the body then playing other traditional full-contact sports. For all these reasons, men over 40 should give Jiu-Jitsu serious consideration when evaluating potential workout regimes.
