@NIH study may explain middle-age #weight gain–and offer a solution

Many people find that their best efforts to eat a healthy diet and stay physically active do not lead to the expected result of maintaining a healthy weight once a person reaches age 40. New research suggests a biological cause may be at the root of increased weight in middle-aged adults. Specifically, the DNA-PK enzyme may become too active as people age. Knocking out the functioning of the enzyme in mice led them to decrease how much weight they were gaining. Plenty of people find diet pills to be ineffective, so medications that target the processing of the enzyme could offer hope to fight weight gain.
