Gelatin is becoming more recognized in its potential as a pre-exercise supplement. Since gelatin is essentially a mixture of bones, connective tissue, and tendons of animals, it allows the ability to provide collagen and amino acids for the body that can be used to strengthen ligaments and tendons. In the study published by American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, gelatin taken with vitamin C an hour before a high-intensity exercise both boosts amino acid levels in the blood and subsequent collagen synthesis.
