Station drugs are meant to help prevent recurrent diseases of the heart. A study has found that most heart attack survivors eventually stop taking their prescribed station drugs within a few years of them being prescribed. Over half of these individuals stop taking them within six months of being discharged from their hospital stay. It is very important for health care professionals to stress the very importance of these medications to heart attack survivors and the problems they may face in the event that they stop taking them.
