Many struggle to squeeze exercise into the busy work week and end up cramming most of their workout sessions into the weekend. Well, according to a study in the Journal of Internal Medicine, these weekend warriors are still reaping benefits of exercise, even if they are not exercising Monday through Friday. Study participants that fit all of their training sessions into a two-day weekend had a 30 percent lower risk of mortality and 40 percent reduction in cancer risk as compared to their sedentary peers. The take home message from this is some activity, even if it’s not daily or almost daily, is still much better than no activity at all.
Key Takeaways:
- According to studies, they are saying getting your workout in 2 days is still beneficial to your health!
- There is a 30% lower risk mortality of working out in 2 days versus none at all.
- It is more beneficial to workout 30 minutes a day than it is to workout for 75 mins in one intense workout.
“According to a study published this week in the Journal of Internal Medicine (JAMA), getting the amount of exercise recommended by the World Health Organization in just two days still provides a health benefit.”
