Oscillating kinetic energy is a technique in which small extra weights are attached by elastic to a barbell. The elastic movement of the weights forces the lifter’s nervous system to work to steady them. The author and others have experienced the increased workout this gives core muscles. Starting with oscillation can make subsequent workouts feel less strenuous. This method is also gentle on the joints. However, it can also be used on the shoulders and abdominals.
